The Medford Summer Camps Activities

By Sally Delacruz

During holidays people like to take a vacation to relax themselves after working hard in school or at their workplace. It is during holidays that children look forward for summer camps to relax and have a good time doing recreational activities. Medford summer camps offers a variety of selection for kids and teenagers such as day and overnight music, sports, dance and many more activities. The camp lasts for four weeks and is quite affordable to most parents.

During summer holidays, the camps put up programs for children of all ages including teenagers and youth. In this places they interact and with other kids from other parts of the world. They learn many things including different cultures, games and languages from each other and from their couches/teachers that are there to guide and supervise them.

Taking your children to the summer camp is very advantageous to both the parent and the kid but mostly very beneficial to the kids. The benefits are many like, interacting with other kids from different places. Having fun playing different games while learning as well. For the parents, they feel good knowing that their kids are in a safe place learning many things under the supervision of the skilled teachers.

Making new friends is another benefit they get since in the camps they are going to spend time and live with people they meet for the first time. Some of the teenagers/children get to discover their talents or what they are good at participating in the numerous activities held there.

They also learn to socialize with other kids learning different languages, games and cultures from other parts of the world. Other lessons that they learn are cooking, drawing, dancing, singing, sewing, knitting etc. They also learn to be social and many other life skills like first aid in case of any emergency, being independent and knowing how to share things.

Although there are many advantages of kids attending the summer camps, they are not without any disadvantages. These are; allergies that occur because of the new foods that they are not used to, effect of the different weather conditions, homesick during the first days. Kids who are not used to sharing things find it hard doing so before they get used to it.

Others who are not used to sports find them difficult to do before they get used to them. There could be some cases of bullying. Some of the kids who have low self esteem take some time to open up. Some may find the place boring and they feel out of place since they are not used to being in a place with many other kids.

As much as we have seen the advantages and disadvantages of the summer camps, it is evident that the it is better for the kids to spend their time at the summer holiday camps to learn the many different things and the independence is very important because the youths are young adults and learning how to be independent is very important for them so take your kids to the camps.
